The other day, one of my coaching clients was telling me how hard it was to fill her open front office position. She had tried all the popular job sites – DentalPost, Indeed, and Craigslist. Most of the candidates she found either “no-showed” their interviews or wanted to get paid at a wage that did not reflect their skill level. This had been going on for months.
I asked her if she asked her own network of contacts if they knew someone. She said no and that she never thought of that. So we put a plan into place to ask everyone she knew – family, friends, other parents, and even patients if they knew someone that would be a good candidate. Within 24 hours, she had a short list of candidates. Within days she interviewed these candidates. And at the end of the week, she had a new team member.
I share this story with you because I want you to see the power of your own network. The people you know have the connections to get you the right team member. You just have to be flexible. Be open to hiring with little to no dental experience. Be open to hiring a nontraditional dental employee. And be open to asking your network for help.
There are good people out there that would be great team members for your office. You just have to get out of your comfort zone and look for them in different places.
